Mood Swing Jazz Band

Mood Swing is a jazz band that performs throughout the Greater Prescott Area.  With a vast repertoire that includes favorites from the silver screen era all the way up to modern swing and dance favorites, Mood Swing plays a vast array of Jazz standards and popular music.  The band often performs at small clubs to entertain guests as they sip coffee or a glass of wine.  By adding a couple of players, Mood Swing is a high energy swing dance band and often plays at parties, festivals and large community events.

Meet Some of Our Players

Don Grise
Don GriseSaxophone and Flute
Our saxophone player, Don, began playing and performing for over 50 years ago. Don has been performing in the Prescott area with several bands for over 18 years including hundreds of jazz and swing performances. In addition, Don was a member of the U.S. Army Band for six years, performing across the Eastern Seaboard and Mid-Western United States as well as Canada.
John 'Doc' Howell
John 'Doc' HowellPiano and Vocals
John (‘Doc’) has been playing the keyboard and guitar for many decades. He played keyboard in the 1970s and 1980s in New York and Ohio at various venues and festivals playing blues and popular music. Locally, in the Prescott area, he has performed for many years with swing, jazz and popular music groups as well as blue grass/country bands.
Mark Stafford
Mark StaffordBass
Mark has been playing, touring and performing in a variety of professional music groups for over 25 years. Mark was nominated for a Dove award and has recorded on several albums. In addition, he was awarded a full-music scholarship at Arizona Christian University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1997. Although he plays different styles of music, Jazz is his favorite type of music to perform. Mark owns a media company and does creative production work for a living.
Leah Morales
Leah MoralesVocals
Leah is a singer, actor, artist and hornist who served in and toured internationally with the Marine Corps Band. In 2008, she attended the Armed Forces School of Music. Leah completed a music performance degree at Yavapai College in the winter of 2020.
Leah currently works as a vocalist, instructor, and instrumentalist and is frequently seen on local stages, with orchestras, and in theatrical productions. She’s the music director for Footlight Productions, and leads a children’s choir at The Movement Studio in Prescott Valley, AZ.
